‘AS 1’ returns to Manila

CATCH the much-awaited and highly anticipated repeat of the spectacular concert “AS 1” with Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano at the Araneta Coliseum on July 16. With 16 exhilarating and sold-out international performances in the US , Canada , and the Middle East and great reviews, the concert is sure to excite and entertain both music aficionados and fans alike.

This groundbreaking musical event will once again mark the once-in-a-lifetime partnership of Martin and Gary – the two top male musical acts here in the country. The concert proudly boasts of Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano together, after a 27-year rivalry in the entertainment industry. “AS 1” opened in Manila before a mammoth crowd on September 19, 2009 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. It also brought together two of the most respected musical directors in the Philippines , Louie Ocampo and Mon Faustino in one stage. "AS 1" also proved to all that competition can be kept to a professional level but the brotherhood and friendship of the two artists go beyond the stage and could be felt throughout the series.  

The “AS 1” franchise also dominated the recording scene with the release of the commemorative “AS 1” CD which immediately claimed the number one spot in the retailers' album sales charts and after 10 months continues to be one of the strongest selling albums on the OPM retail charts. The “AS 1” CD is released by Universal Records in cooperation with Polyeast Records and it features Martin and Gary doing renditions of each other’s hit songs as well as several duets such as its title song “As One,” a song composed by Gina Tabuena-Godinez and Albert Chang, beautifully arranged by Gary himself. "Together As One," another duet, is a song wth lyrics written by Martin with the help of Gary . 

Fans can look forward to an unforgettable and magical evening of production numbers and high powered performances which include their greatest hits, today’s chart-toppers, OPM classics, and their classic theme songs from soap operas and movies. They will also witness Martin dancing for the first time with Gary V! Fans can also expect a special production number featuring Martin and Gary with their sons Robin and Ram Nievera and Paolo and Gab Valenciano respectively.
